Ostara Night                      Ostara Night MP3
Tune: God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

While sitting in the fields one day,
I saw an awesome sight,
The Vanir were a-rolling in,
Oh on Ostara Night,
They came dressed in their finest cloaks,
Brought mead in wooden pails….
For the springtime had come once more, once more,
For the springtime had come once more.

People were a-gathering,
around Ostara fire,
To celebrate the freedom
from winter's icy mire,
They gathered up the horns to pass,
to share in Vanir Mead…..
For the springtime had come once more, once more,
For the springtime had come once more.

To Frey they laid a feast of wheat,
To Freyja amber beads,
And they began the sacred blot,
To toast the gods of spring,
They built a fire and stood around,
for light returned once more....
For the springtime had come once more, once more,
For the springtime had come once more.

They raised the horn up to the sky
With thankful jubilee,
They raised their voice unto the heights
To thank the gods of spring,
They tossed off all their winter frocks,
For snow did melt once more.......
For the springtime had come once more, once more,
For the springtime had come once more.

The Vanir travelled far and wide,
To bring the Earth to life,
They left a gift for all to see,
The fields once more sprung life,
The snow had melted all away,
Oh what an awesome sight...
For the springtime had come once more, once more,
For the springtime had come once more.
