~ Poetry by me ~

The Runatal for Geeks

I know that I hung
On the internet line
All of the nights nine,
Pierced by a plugin
And given to Odin,
Myself to AI self,
On that data tree
Of which none knows
From which root servers it runs.

None gave me comfort,
None gave me coffee;
Download I did,
Took up the source code,
Took it up screaming,
Then I powered down.

Nine mighty programs I learnt
From Boole, father of Basic,
And a drink I got of goodly java,
Poured from the percolator.

Then I developed, and multiplied,
And tech-savvy I waxed;
Script from a script
found me a script,
Project from project
found me an project.

Bits you must find,
Right binary digits,
Very powerful bits
Very brilliant bits
As typed by Turing,
Programmed by the Powers,
And as encoded by Odin.

For the gods by Gates, for the elves by Eich,
And Dorsey, too, for the dwarves;
By Gosling for giants, and for mankind
Some I scripted myself.

Do you know how to write? Do you know how to parse?
Do you know how to code? Do you know how to test?
Do you know how to search? Do you know how to upload?
Do you know how to send? Do you know how to share?

Better not ordered than paid too much,
For shareware looks for a donation.
Better not sent than overspammed;
So Odin compiled before mankind's memory,
When he booted up
And returned to his home page.
