~ Poetry by me ~

I Dreamt me a Dream                  I Dreamt me a Dream MP3

I dreamt me a dream the other night
Of silks and noble fur;
When I woke up this morning
They were no longer there.

I dreamt me a dream the other night
Of amber and silver and gold;
When I woke up this morning
Away from my grasp they rolled.

I dreamt me a dream the other night
That you would love me true;
When I woke up this morning
My arms were holding you.

The first two lines constitute the oldest preserved piece of music known in Denmark;
the original text reads: "Drømde mik en drøm i nat um silki ok ærlik pæl".

The tune for the above recording is my own.
