Viking Haiku

The village I raze today
Rebuilt by next spring
Job security is good

          *

Mead fills mighty aurochs horns
Pork on golden plate
But no TV in Valhalla

          *

Longships ply the waves
Powered by oars and arms
Oh, Evinrude, where are you?

          *

Blood-eagle a grim doom done
Lungs cut out and set on back
Cheaper than lawyers.

© Cynthia Haywood

(Evinrude being, of course, a producer of watercraft engines!)

Poetic form: Haiku
