FEHU
A flame burns in the icy darkness

URUZ
Audhumla kicks up her heels in the Ginnungagap

THURISAZ
Ymir, the first giant, emerges from the ice

ANSUZ
The gods of our Folk appear

RAIDHO
From chaos Odhinn creates order

KENAZ
Sun and moon they bring, and with these night and day

GEBO
Life gave they to Ask and Embla, life and breath and goodly hue

WUNJO
In holy frith dwelt we then, and prospered

HAGALAZ
Thrice in the Aesir's fire Gullveig burned

NAUTHIZ
For her weregild the Vanir waged war

ISA
But against the frost giants a truce was forged

JERA
Freyr and Freyja to Asgard the first harvest bring

EIHWAZ
Nine nights Odhinn the World Tree rides

PERTHO
Into the Well for knowledge He casts an eye

Among the dead upon Heid the Valkyries He fathers

While Odhinn plots and plans, Asa-Thor the mighty Mjollnir wields

Bound Fenris rends from Tyr the promised hand

BERKANO
Frigga's tears wash Baldor's pale white corpse

Eight swift hooves upon Hel's bridge clatter

MANNAZ
Wolf age howls, and Rig's offspring quarrel upon the quaking earth

LAGUZ
Loki unbound a dread ship steers toward Ragnarok

INGWAZ
Surt's dark flame the shining Harvest Lord consumes

DAGAZ
Darkness feasts on bloody Vigrid plain, but the fallen god a new day soon shall bring

OTHILA
In fresh green fields shall Lif and Liftrasir on golden tafl boards play . . . someday.
