Space Goddess

To bright Njord called
of dancing wave
of promised wealth
Of Black Ran whispered
of blackest deep
of storm tossed wrath

Long ago on fragile ships
a path forgotten
a dream fulfilled
Mighty ships of modern man
see through fog
laugh at storms

Bright Njord forgotten
his waves oil stained
his reaches known
Yet she calls us
Black Ran
below the waves; beyond the sky

Where Gagarin dared,
Apollo soared
and Challenger burned rejected
Black sea goddess
Sunna's wind
Skadi's cold

Black sea sailors
star seekers
Ran's blessed
Cast your nets in airless dark
bright eyed
dearest loved

Airless dark
pityless void
cruelest mistress
Last frontier
Path of glory,
Ran's domain.

To Astronauts, Cosmonauts, and black sea sailors all;
yours the glory, even those who she has already gathered.
