Mead-Wall

It seems that I added sweet currant juice red
To my mead before all of the yeast was quite dead.
Last night when I opened a bottle for guests
The cork was launched skyward and whizzed past my head.

There's mead on the counter; there's mead on the floor.
And something dark purple on each cupboard door.
There's mead on the stovetop, in leftover rice,
And scrubbing the fridge soon will make my arm sore.

But still it gets worse now, for topping it all
There're spots on the ceiling and drips down the wall!
I may lack the grandeur of Hrothgar's mead-hall,
But in my own kitchen I have a mead-wall.
