In the Arms of a Valkyrie

In the midst of chaos
This scene of pure beauty and love
A fallen warrior
And a vision sent from the gods themselves

She held his head
Held him and spoke softly to him
His head in her lap
Eyes closing as his life drained slowly away

This life forfeit
Given, in the heat of battle, to Odin. Allfather.
And for his part
Odin sent down one of his own angels

A rare beauty
This vision clad in the finest armour
She came down
To claim him for a greater purpose

To wait out time itself
As one of the chosen in Valhalla
But for now
She simply held him as he faded away

He was a hero
There was to be no straw death for him
He could die happy
In the arms of a Valkyrie
