Fate

First will come ice and shadow
the world frozen under layered snow
neither sun nor moon, only endless night
and creeping cold where wolves will fight
on two legs more often than on four
and people will struggle to endure...
Then the burning, merciless, will start
in bloody battle Muspell's fiery heart
will sweep forth - flames will dance
and swords clash while the dead advance
from beyond, the wolf will run free,
the serpent rise up, and the Gods will be
overtaken by fate as was told long ago
by the one who sees to the one who would know.
