A Song to Hela

For Courtney and Weyland's Mom: Dorothy Katherine Rooney
19 Lenting 1006 Vinland Reckoning

Hela, fair one, Hela, fearsome
You are waiting, in your Misthome
All who will walk, Final Faring
Come before you, know your deemings

Within your Garth, many Halls stand
Many Wightshades, wait for new life
To be reborn, amongst Kinfolk
To breathe again, to do new deeds

After last breath, Life's Flame snuffed out
That which makes us, fully human
Leaves the fleshhusk, which has housed it
Sees the Helroad, walks upon it

Green, good Midgard, was our Lifehome
All Her seasons, framing our years
Sunshine, moonbeams, calm air, windy
Rainstorms, drought times, blizzards, warm days

Kin, Kith and Friends, livened our Hearth
Shared in our weal, shared in our woe
Heard Words, Saw Deeds, which framed our Worth
And in their Hearts, will live our Name

Eyes are closed shut, loved ones stand round
Say their farewells, weep or wonder
Take up Life Shell, tend it fondly
They dig the grave, then raise a mound

Then afterwards, in aftermath
The Minnehorn, makes many rounds
In remembrance, of life Well Lived
In promises, to carry on

Hela, fair one, Hela, fearsome
You are waiting, in your Misthome
All who will walk, Final Faring
Come before you, know your deemings

Within your Garth, many Halls stand
Many Wightshades, wait for new life
To be reborn, amongst Kinfolk
To breathe again, to do new deeds
