Midvinterkvad
Et dyr er slagtet,
vi skikken følger,
og indta´r kødet,
til ære for guder.
Når kredsen sluttes,
vor kraft er samlet,
og blótet styrkes,
med blod fra offerdyr.
For solen synker
og stiger igen,
og efter vinteren,
våren følger.
Midwinter Song
An animal has been slaughtered
we follow the custom
and eat the meat
to honor the gods
when the circle has been made
our force is together
and the blót will be stronger
with the blood from the sacrificial animal.
For the sun sinks
and rises again
and after winter
follows the spring .
