Snowfrid

(A wood-nymph seeks to beguil Gunnar to leave the warrior´s path
for one of comfort and ease; Snowfrid advises against it.
The poem concludes with the lines:)

And for thee
Ope the door of boyhood-memory's garden,
When thou turnest there to rest from strife,
Where in Ida's vale the Norn is warden
O'er the dawn-gold tables of thy life.

Viktor Rydberg (1828-1895)

Swedish poet, novelist, essayist, idealist philosopher
