~ Poetry by me ~
Here We Come A-Wassailing
Here We Come A-Wassailing
MP3
1) Here we come a-wassailing
Among the leaves so green,
Here we come a-wandering
So fair to be seen!
Chorus:
Love and joy come to you,
And to you your wassail too,
And Gods bless you and send you
A Happy New Year!
2) We are not just some travelers
Who walk from door to door,
We are the heathen revelers
(or: neighbors, family, kindred)
Whom you have seen before.
Chorus
3) Gods bless you, father, mother,
Bless your children and your kin,
Gods bless this heathen household
(or: family, kindred)
And all who live therein!
Chorus
4) May Frey provide and Thor protect,
May Freya grant you love,
May you have health and happiness
And blessings from above!
Chorus
5) We ask your hospitality
In this cold winter night,
A warm place by the fireside
Within your hall so bright!
Chorus
6) Come, bring us half a loaf of bread
And half a cup of beer,
Then you shall our friendship win
and we will bring you cheer!
Chorus
8) Gods bless your house and home and hearth
And all who live in here,
May you have merriness and mirth
Throughout the coming year!
Chorus
9) Here we come a-wassailing
Among the leaves so green,
Here we come a-wandering
So fair to be seen!
Chorus
