La Grange
Poetic form:
Villanelle
Within this green valley I shall belong
Where river rushes soft among the trees
Mother Nerthus, can you hear my lifted song?
Rolling hills shout joy like a clanging gong
And fragrant heather draws the buzzing bees
Within this green valley I shall belong.
A grove I'll plant here far from city throng
Verdant shade graced by a leafy frieze
Mother Nerthus, can you hear my lifted song?
Fruited vines and soft flowers I'll frolic among
A lush orchard and garden, the gods to please
That to this green valley I do belong.
For now through city streets I ping and pong
But soon all shall be as promised, I believe
Mother Nerthus, can you hear my lifted song?
Lord Frey, let your vision not be wrong
Father Njord, hasten my rustic release
Within this green valley I shall belong;
Mother Nerthus, do you hear my lifted song?
