~ Poetry by me ~
What Shall We Sing to Frey
What shall we sing to Frey, most strong,
most bounteous,
excellently wise,
that shall be dearest to his heart?
That Gerd may grant the grace of Frey to our folk, our kin,
our cattle and our progeny:
That Thor and Freya and Frey may remember us,
yea, all the Gods with one accord.
To Frey, Lord of Sacrifice, of healing and well-being,
we pray for joy and health and strength;
May he grant health to our steeds, fertility to family,
to men, to women, and to kine.
He shines in splendour like the sun,
refulgent as bright gold is he,
the good, the best among the Gods.
O Frey, make us great by your glory,
grant us renown for right deeds.
Let not troubles hinder us to honor
the Blot-God as shares with us his strength.
Frey! With head, and heart, and loin we serve you,
your children, immortal in your service,
at the highest place of holy law.
