~ Poetry by me ~

Dedicated to Mel (Rommelio Valerio), for being what he is.

"Universal Soldier" performance by Buffy Sainte-Marie MP3 (ext. link)

Universal Heathen
Tune: "Universal Soldier"

He is 3 foot 5 and he´s 6 feet 4
He´s a man, and he´s a woman and a child
He´s well into his eighties and he´s only seventeen
He will be a heathen for a thousand years.

He´s Caucasian, he´s an Asian, he´s been Native long ago
His roots are Africa and Mexico
He lives in Australia and he is an Eskimo
And the Gods are with him everywhere he´ll go.

He´s been heathen from his birthday and he´d only just convert
He´s a kindred member and he is alone
He´s a runester and a craftsman and he´s just a dilettante
And his Gods are with him ´cause he is their own.

He´s an Odinist, Norse Heathen, he´s Forn Sed and Vanatru,
An Anglo-Saxon and he´s Asatru
He follows old traditions and he improvises new
And the Gods accept his blots because he´s true.

He´s a skillful reenactor and he sumbles in his jeans
He´s childless and the mother of a clan
He owns a farm with livestock and he´s buying canned beans
And he always does the very best he can.

He´s the Universal Heathen, and he´s really you and me
Because the Gods we worship are the same
For all our little differences, my brothers don´t you see
Our Gods are there, whatever our name.
