Over Midgard So Wide
Tune: "Es führt über den Main eine Brücke von Stein", adapted (see info below)

Over Midgard so wide
arches Bifrost the bright,
All the colors unite
in the bridge made of light,
Fa la la la la, fa la la la.

When the Gods first made the world,
then the rainbow unfurled,
And the Gods cross its glow
when they go to visit us below,
Fa la la la la, fa la la la.

Odin rides on his steed
Sleipnir unmatched in speed,
Then Freya in her wain
is drawn by cats twain,
Fa la la la la, fa la la la.

Frey rides his golden boar,
Frigga can as a falcon soar,
Then Thor thunders by
with his goats through the sky,
Fa la la la la, fa la la la.

When the rainbow does shine,
from the Gods it´s a sign
that they care for us here,
and they always are near,
Fa la la la la, fa la la la.

At the end of our day,
we may walk on this way,
and all Gods and all men
are together again,
Fa la la la la, fa la la la.

Over Midgard so wide
arches Bifrost the bright,
And we stand side by side
as the colors unite,
Fa la la la la, fa la la la.

"Es führt über den Main eine Brücke von Stein" is an old German folk song text,
which was complemented and set to tune 1952 by the composer Felicitas Kukuck (1914-2001).

Coincidentally, the Main is the river which flows through Frankfurt, where I live, and which later joins the Rhine.
