~ Poetry by me ~

Optionally, one person can sing the stanza (or part of the stanza) solo,
with the group falling in for the chorus resp. rest of the stanza.
The second lines are especially fine as a "group echo".
Suggested changes for conversion to Midwinter Song: See below the poem.

Midsummer Song              Midsummer Song MP3

1. We celebrate Midsummer Night,
summer night, summer night,
Round the fire we sing this song,
come on and sing along!

Chorus:
Celebrate the Summer Solstice Night,
celebrate the Summer Solstice, the Midsummer Night!

2. Lift your horn to hail the Gods,
hail the Gods, hail the Gods,
Hail the Aesir, one and all,
Vanir, hear us call!

3. Frith and harvest and good year,
and good year, and good year,
To the Gods bring offerings
of flowers, food and drinks!

4. Shortest night and longest day,
longest day, longest day,
Sumbel sees us all unite
in Sunna´s setting light!

5. Let us dance the whole night through,
night through, night through,
For luck we leap the flames so high
and set the sparks a-fly!

6. And together let us feast,
let us feast, let us feast,
Drink good mead and eat some boar
till we can drink no more!

7. When the morning sun comes up,
sun comes up, sun comes up,
Listen to our merry song,
this summer will be long!
