Odin and Loki
In the time before time
a great love affair boiled
in the cauldron of the world.
Odin and Loki,
the original bohemians,
young gods backpacking
through the worlds together,
crazy for experience and inspiration.
Then the drifting apart,
the pain of loss.
Loki
hurt, crying angry tears.
Odin
drinking too much,
thinking too much,
writing page after page
of bad poetry,
grief swelling,
tears staining the pages.
Is this the beginning
of the Twilight of the Gods?
Is every apocalypse
born from the corpse
of dead love?
