Freyja Sun-Wing
Poetic Form: Sestet
Mighty Freyja watching gold-eyed from the height,
Fiercest of queens, wrapped in the falcon’s spotted skin
Gliding and plunging upon the cold sunlight,
Enter blue skies of this middle earth on the icy wind.
Freyja wind-spinner, Freyja sun-wing,
Pass through bright gate into the sun’s gold ring.
Wise falcon-woman, Freyja high on the mountain
face,
No one watches you go out from silver-pillared hall;
You fly before men from the secret wisdom-place,
The seer flies with you, men will hear your piercing call.
Freyja wind-spinner, Freyja sun-wing,
The secret falcon-spell we will sing.
Men must know secret things in a dangerous hour,
Hear our courage! Open fierce wings in us, falcon-lady,
Cunning falcon-daughter, Freyja of sky-bright power;
Carry us over mountain and white-frosted sea.
Freyja wind-spinner, Freyja sun-wing,
Wisdom upon the waiting seer bring.
Falcon-mother of courage, mighty Freyja of ice and
fire,
Terrible is the journey to other worlds for the wise;
Feather-bright Queen, sharp are the hungers of this desire,
Freyja the beautiful, turn to us your all-seeing eyes.
Freyja wind-spinner, Freyja sun-wing,
Falcon-hearted seer gives offering.
