Quetzalcoatl

From the skies rules the Resplendent
Amalgam of Bird and Serpent.
Fierce the Snake devoureth frail man,
Praised at Teotihuacan.

Colourful the Feathers adorned
Atop the scales of skin forlorn
Give majesty to aweful beast
Who giveth us our daily feast.

Tezcatlipoca, enemy
Seeds of discord, enmity,
Fought the Serpent, cast from the Sun;
Through great volleys of fire, won.

Lord of the Night Sky, great and vile
Cast Benevolence to exile.
On a boat of snakes he adjourned
Though one day soon, he will return;
Some day in human form, return....
