Opposition

Thou art not my father,
Thou art just my maker.
I would dare to bother
Calling Thee a “faker”.

“Eternally unfair,
Self-centered and most vain,
Masochist without care,”
Claim all that Thou explain.

I wished to make equal
All that Thou divided;
To make conflict tranquil
And lead the misguided.

Thou hast cast me away
For attempting justice.
Worms eat my heart’s decay
With the hate they practice.

I sit lonesome and in pain
Though I did Thee no wrong.
Darkness is my domain
And ‘tis where I belong.

Alone I must fester
In here with anger wroth.
Patience is the tester
Of which I am most loth.

I can not defeat Thee;
I’ll pervert Thy makings.
Through humans Thou wilt see;
Souls shall be my takings.

Better to reign in Hell
Than serve Thee in Heaven.
All hope I shall expel.
These words I have graven.

Kunst des Fechtens - Medieval & Renaissance-based martial arts

This is written based upon John Milton's "Paradise Lost" and Dante Aligheri's "Inferno".  The song is written from the perspective of Lucifer cast from the Heavens and sent to dwell in the nether regions of Hell where he must rule for eternity. At which point, Lucifer "becomes" Satan (Hebraic for "Opposition" or "Adversary"), and the song basically shows the pains that some suffer when serving a religion that rejects them, and how they deal with it by opposing it with anger.
