~ Non-Norse Poetry by Others ~

My Grotto

Serene fortress of the mind,
this tranquil haven I can find.
Quietly I travel here alone,
a place not reached by flesh and bone.
Damp glistening like gems the walls,
the same that grace great Dwarven halls.
Shining as a star filled night,
reflections of a deeper light.

Lays in the centre of this cave,
cool nether well in which I bathe.
Surrounded by a rocky course,
and leaks into the waters source.
No sound except infrequent fall,
of echoed splash into the pool.
I harken for that lonely drip,
that heralds my impending trip.

Floating in this cavern of old,
numbness inside the waters cold.
Within its depths a gloaming comes,
I swim to when I hear the drums.
Now hold on! what is this I spy?
the subtle glint of beastly eye.
In here there is no need to fret,
my grey furred fetch, its she I've met.
