~ Non-Norse Poetry by Others ~
Economy
We are controlled through fear of death
Right until our very last breath.
Fads and religions together
Exploit that fear here and nether.
We are afraid of growing old
But of that we always palter.
And, if we don’t buy what we’re told
Our economy will falter.
In survival of the fittest
We must appear as the hippest.
The ones who died were always weak.
The ostracized were always meek.
The fears ingrained make our hearts cold.
Fashions make our image alter.
And, if we don’t buy what we’re told
Our economy will falter.
We’ve let our love of our own world
Become the visage we’ve unfurled;
Of ourselves in the seats of Gods
To seem as if we beat the odds.
We were crafted into a mold
based upon our nation’s Psalter.
And, if we don’t buy what we’re told
Our economy will falter.
Our most important word is “we”.
We must conform before we see.
There never was an “I” in “team”,
Though spelling’s done by the regime.
We’re made to put our dreams on hold.
Our self-consciousness we halter.
And, if we don’t buy what we’re told
Our economy will falter.
