Call for Submissions: Freya Devotional
Title: Fire Jewel: A Devotional Anthology to Freya.
Publisher: Asphodel Press.
Deadline: May 13th, 2012
She is known as Giver, Sow, Sea-Bright, Battle-Goddess, Teacher of Seidr,
Vanadis, Priestess, Daughter of Njord, Sister of Frey. Freya is one of the most
popular goddesses in the Northern Tradition. This anthology is a celebration of
Freya in her many aspects.
I am looking to include prayers, rituals, poetry, articles, experiential
essays, recipes, meditations, black and white artwork or whatever anyone feels
called to contribute. Length of submissions: no more than 8,000 words for an essay.
Do not feel as if you need to be Heathen to contribute, as long as
submissions are respectful and focused on Freya specifically. All are welcome to
submit something for the anthology.
Regrettably, I will not be able to compensate contributors for their work;
please consider your work an offering for Freya Herself. I would ideally like to
give contributors a copy of the book when it is published, but I cannot
guarantee that yet. I am also considering donating the proceeds in part or in
whole to a charitable organization (which one is yet to be decided, but I’m
leaning towards one that is international in scope, and would welcome
suggestions). Heifer International has been suggested as a possible charity.
I am only asking for one-time publishing rights. All contributors will retain
the rights to their respective contributions. I will also require legal names
and addresses for the purpose of sending out release forms.
Submissions and questions about the anthology may be sent to
kryhea(at)yahoo(dot)com .
Please send all submissions as Word (.doc) documents or RTF files (.rtf).
Sample images may be sent as JPG files, but higher resolution images will be
needed for the final product.

"Unto
Herself: A Devotional Anthology for Independent Goddesses",
edited by Ashley DeAne Horn.
Please send your submission to rian3x3@gmail.com,
either in the body of the email or as a .doc or plain text/RTF attachment
with “Parthenos Devotional” in the subject line
.
We are seeking submissions for a devotional anthology for a cross-pantheon
look at virgin Goddesses. This includes Goddesses such as Artemis, Athena, and
Hestia, but also those from other pantheons. Pieces in honor of any Goddess from
any pantheon who operates without a male consort are welcome, such as Anahita,
Anat,
Gefjon,
Kumari, The Morrigan,
Skadhi,
Vesta, The Zorya, and others. We are interested in a wide variety of works,
including (but not limited to) short fiction, poetry, original translations of
ancient texts, hymns, rituals, artwork, personal stories, and scholarly articles
— particularly those that compare or contrast the idea of virginity across
cultural lines. We are especially looking for submissions that focus upon the
Goddesses’ self-reliance and independence in some way, regardless of Their
physical virginity.
All works must be original, not public domain. No plagiarism. Previously
published submissions are acceptable, provided the author retains all rights
to the work. Authors retain all rights to the submission. Upon acceptance,
the author will be sent a permission to publish form along with a request
for a short biography to include in the anthology. The editor reserves the
right to make any minor changes in the case of grammar, spelling and
formatting concerns. The editor also reserves the right to request
modification of submissions and to reject submissions as necessary.
As this is a devotional work, no monetary compensation will be provided.
Proceeds from all sales will be divided between charitable donations in the
names of the Goddesses and production costs for future publications from Bibliotheca
Alexandrina. All contributors will receive a coupon code which will
allow them to purchase three copies of this anthology at cost.
Acceptable length is anywhere from 100-10,000 words (with the exception of
poetry). The submissions period will open November 1, 2011 and close March
31, 2012 with a projected release date of May 2012.
Any artwork submitted should be scanned in or created at 300 dpi and sent as
a .jpg or .tif file.

Mist,
author of "Fulltrui, Patrons in Ásatrú". is currently seeking
submissions for a work in progress entitled "Living Our Faith":
"I am seeking contributions of articles by people who spend a significant amount
of time living heathen. I would like articles from any heathen on how living
with the gods (or not) affects them, how life is different once becoming
heathen.
I am looking for articles from people who work with the gods, and how that has
affected them for the good or bad, as well as people that are raising heathen
children. I am looking for articles about how you live your faith, how you
express it on a daily basis, what you do outside of ritual, how you create
community, how you find living your faith has helped you, the good bad and ugly
stories are welcome.
I am also looking for various styled rituals including ritual theater if your
group has ever done that, interesting stories about gods if you have any, and
anything in between! All submissions must be sent in by August 31st, 2011.
Please send submission to mist@kenaz.ca
with the subject LIVING HEATHEN and I will get back to selected contributors
asap! Hopefully many people will consider contribution to this book, there is no
payment offered but free copies may be provided to those who contributed large
articles. Feel free to distribute!"

Idunna Devotional: Call for Submissions
Deadline: May 1, 2010. Publisher: Asphodel Press
I have decided to compile a devotional to the
Goddess Idunna (Idun). I am seeking poetry, prayers,
articles, recipes, meditations, rituals, and even artwork (provided that it is
black and white—
unfortunately, internal color art seriously drives up the price of a book and I
wish this to be accessible).
All contributors will be given a copy of the finished devotional as payment.
One need not be Heathen to contribute. I am looking for a broad range of
material because in this way
the devotional will offer as many points of connection for as many people to
Idunna as possible.
Anyone interested in contributing should contact me at Krasskova at gmail.com.
Many thanks, Galina Krasskova

"Full Fathom Five: A
Devotional to the Norse Gods and Goddesses of the Sea" by Galina Krasskova.
The book is a compilation
of prayers to Ran, Aegir, Their Nine Daughters, and Njord. Contributions for
this devotional came not only from the US but also from Europe (England and
Germany). It is a full-color devotional with beautiful photographs and
illustrations on nearly every page. It offers a moving compilation of poems,
prayers and personal accounts from people who love and honor these Gods. Respect
for the ocean and its bounty is also discussed by those who have found that
loving Gods of the sea means preserving that which is Their body.
Available here at lulu.com
and
here at Amazon.com .

"Water from the Well And Other Wyrd Tales of
Odin" by Laure Lynch
In her second Odin devotional collection, two novellas and two short stories take the
reader on a moving and profound exploration of critical turning points in
the life of the Norse god Odin:
The slaying of Ymir, the births of His son
Bragi and His feral daughters the Valkyries, His alliance with the rune
spirits, and the arrival in Asgard of the mysterious goddess Saga.
In the
course of these adventures, fresh insights into the nature of this
much-maligned deity are revealed through the eyes of women whose roles in
His life are usually overlooked- His mother Bestla, His Etin-bride Gunnlod,
and the Norns Themselves.
Completing this offering is a selection of
evocative poetry, allowing brief glimpses into the author's very private,
passionate and tender relationship with the god she serves.
